The bidders are former News Corp president Peter Chernin, the Guggenheim Digial Media private equity fund, DirecTV, and Time Warner Cable Inc. This video company has two forms of revenue - advertising and paid subscriptions. Hulu has approximately 3 million subscribers paying for the premium services.

Online video viewing up 20.3% in 2012

Data from AccuStream Research found that online video viewing increased 20.3 percent in 2012, with 500 billion views. The growth in digital video viewership is attributed to both professionally produced video and user-generated content. Professionally produced video content netted 104.4 billion views, a 17.9 percent growth compared to 2011. User-generated content captured 408.8 billion views, 21 percent more than in 2011.

Streaming on Yahoo, It’s ‘S.N.L.’
